Dave Maas of Minneapolis, Minnesota caught this 20-pound-plus channel catfish in the Red River of the North near Selkirk, Manitoba. Every channel cat you land in the Red River of the North is likely to be a trophy.

Farewell

Welcome to the November issue of CatfishNow (CFN). The time has come for me to say farewell to my position as editor of CatfishNOW. October 2022 marks six years since embarking on my journey with the catfish community through the publication and it is the month of my 81st birthday. I have decided it is time to end the life of deadlines and live a more loosely determined schedule.

I am not leaving CatfishNOW completely. I will remain connected with the publication as time goes forward. I have made many new friends, enjoyed working with many anglers on stories, and found great delight in fishing with many of you. I thank you all for your support.

I will call it retirement (again) but it won’t be 100 percent. I still enjoy writing and will continue to do so on a limited basis as opportunities arise.

I am very pleased to report that a new editor is in place and will begin his duties with the January 2023 edition of CatfishNOW. Keith “Catfish” Sutton is well-known to many of you. I know that he will receive the same level of support and assistance from the catfish community as I have.

I have many people to thank for their contributions and support during my time as editor. My thanks begin with CatfishNOW/CrappieNOW publisher, Dan Dannenmueller and the entire staff of the organization. Thank yous are also due to the many tourism bureaus and companies that have been instrumental in supporting me at various catfish destinations. And finally, thank you to the many anglers and other members of the catfish family who have willingly provided their time and expertise to so many stories in the pages of CatfishNOW.

If you have my personal contact information and want to keep in touch it has not changed. I am easily reached through Facebook Messenger and have learned to prefer it as a convenient way to communicate.

Farewell and thank you all my friends.

Fish with passion!

Ron Presley, Editor
