Hunter Fussell caught a 41.83-pound blue cat to earn the Big Fish Championship belt in the Youth Division at the Santee Cooper Monster Cat Quest in 2017. The Goose Creek, SC, angler believes in taking care of the fish. He was spotted in the water at the release point accepting other anglers fish and making sure they were released in good shape.
“I think catfishing is really fun,” said 14-year-old Hunter. “It is a good sport for young kids to get interested in because it is fun and you get to spend time with your family and friends out on the boat. Anyone can catfish, but you have to practice and pay attention to the lines to catch the big ones. Always take advice from older fishermen and learn to appreciate the sport.”
