Success is so much fun and can be so addicting! Whether the success that we are experiencing is in our fishing, sports, our careers or our relationships, success doesn’t always last forever. It is easy to become a little too proud of ourselves and our accomplishments when times are good. We need to enjoy our success but remain humble.
We love the days when no matter what we throw at the fish we cannot keep them off our hooks. We can begin to fool ourselves and think—man we’ve got this figured out. We go home and brag to our friends and share our success on social media sites.
The next day we take one of our friends out to show them what a great fisherman we are and guess what? We do not catch a fish all day. This is what I love about fishing, once you think you know it all and are pretty good, fishing will humble you!
Unless you are Daryl and Jason Masingale it seems, success in fishing will most likely happen in small doses. You may go on a hot streak for a month, a couple of months or even a year, however, do not let your success go to your head.
Never be too cool to talk to the new guy or new team to help them get better. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone out with a couple of tips and then see the joy on their faces as they experience success!
My wish for all of us in 2020 is that the successful days on the water are more fruitful than the days that we are humbled!
