Bait is everything when it comes to catfishing but it goes a bit further than just having good bait. No matter what you use for bait NEVER fill the hook gap completely. You must always match your bait and hook so that you leave room for the fish to become hooked as he takes the bait.
Also, you should watch for scales on the hook. When you place a scaled cut bait on the hook it often penetrates the scales and that can become a deterrent to hooking up. One small scale on the point of your hook could be the difference between fishing and catching.
If you bait right and put the time in on the water to learn the reservoir or river you are fishing you will do better. Also, keep your tackle and boat in order (that’s a tough one for me) and most importantly enjoy your time fishing with friends and family.
As I always say, if you’re not fishin’ you’re not catchin’.
