MRM ANGLER ROUNDUP – 2017

The 2017 Mississippi River Monsters tournament in Memphis will feature prominent anglers and tournament teams in a series of catfish seminars. The Friday afternoon event promises to provide more catfishing information in one afternoon than an individual could accumulate in years of fishing on their own.

Shipman and Wilbanks are shown here at last year’s MRM.

One of the distinguishing elements of tournament catfishing anglers, and catfish anglers in general for that matter, is their willingness to share what they know with others. The Angler Roundup seminar series is being introduced to do just that in a short period of time. If you have questions about catfishing you need to invest the time to be there on September 15, 2017 inside the pyramid at Memphis, TN.

The noon time slot will be filled by David Shipman and Brooke Wilbanks. The B’n’M team are well known on the catfish circuit as a consistent team, often placing in the money.

One of their accomplishments is winning the World Championship of Catfishing (WCC). They won the coveted crown on the Tennessee River on June 27, 2015 at Pickwick Landing State Park.

Those were particularly tough conditions that weekend at the WCC. Nevertheless, they overcame those tough conditions to bring five fish to the scales that weighed 117.65 pounds. That weight more than doubled the second-place weight of 54.14 pounds. Included in the Shipman/Wilbanks total was a 44.85-pound blue cat that gave them a clean sweep and big fish honors for the tournament. Shipman and Wilbanks hail from Corinth, MS.

Shipman and Wilbanks will share their knowledge of catfishing in their seminar. They will focus on structure and current in the big rivers.

“We are going to talk about finding structure and drop offs on new rivers, and how to use the current in different situations like the Mississippi River current,” said Shipman. “We will also have time to take questions on what people want to ask.”

Other well-known anglers that will be presenting at Angler Roundup include Glenn Flowers from Florida, Jeff Dodd from Tennessee, James “Big Cat” Patterson from Memphis, and Jason and Daryl Masingale, from Arkansas.

Regardless of where you fish, there will be plenty of tips and techniques that you can use in your own backyard. The Angler Roundup begins at noon on Friday and runs through about 3:45 pm.
