Fishing, Community, Connections!
The Lake Guntersville event will benefit the family of ALL patient Isaac Lanham through competitive catfishing organized by Bank Kayak Pond Catfish Nation Inc. (BKPC Inc.).
The BKPC Nation has scheduled a charity catfish tournament to benefit the family of an Oklahoma youth, Isaac Lanham. Young Isaac has been battling Pre B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) since June 2019.
He was 12 at the time. This was shortly after his maternal grandmother was diagnosed with uterine cancer. It was not long before the family was learning a whole new vocabulary that is unique to those who battle cancer.
Isaac has had lumbar punctures, a port placement, biopsies, and a rigorous chemotherapy regimen. Throughout it all, he has maintained a positive outlook, even while facing the most difficult fight of his life.
He was not the only one fighting, though. The challenge extended into the family, which includes eight siblings as well as his parents, Alex and Ashley.
The challenges of juggling the other children while trying to be present for Isaac has been daunting. Alex has a disability from his time working for the railroad, so it made the most sense for him to be present with Isaac much of the time as Ashley worked to keep things at home running as smoothly as possible.
When the pandemic hit, it only added more challenges with visitation and being
able to support this young warrior. They have persevered until now, but the battle is still ongoing. That is why the catfishing community is coming together to provide much-needed assistance.
Anglers are expected from multiple states to rally around Isaac and his family at Lake Guntersville. Aimed at providing a fun day of competitive catfishing the result will be helping a worthy cause. Proceeds will go to the family to help meet the financial needs that arise as they continue the fight against childhood cancer.
The Classic takes place on October 16, 2021. Fishing begins at 7:00 am with lines in the water and ends at 4:00 pm. Anglers must then be at the weigh-in by 5 p.m. at the Waterfront Bay Grocery and Tackle.
