Successfully catching catfish depends on several different variables. Those elements will all come together with proper planning and conditions.
Take time to plan your trip. Check the fishing reports for the river you plan to fish. Local tackle shops are a great source of current conditions. Things like weather conditions and moon phase can have a high impact on your success. Always bring plenty of bait (whether live or cut bait) and scout the stretch of river you’ll be fishing. Mark “fishy” spots to return to when needed. Always be willing to try a new fishing spot or a new kind of bait and experiment with new techniques.
