Jonathan Cooksey fishes the tournament trail with his dad, Jackie Cooksey. They are well-known for their ability to catch big fish. Jonathan has had plenty of catfish savvy passed down to him and plenty has been learned from experience on the water. For November anglers he has a special tip—SLOW DOWN YOUR GOING TOO FAST!
“November is a transition month from a fall to a winter pattern,” informed Jonathan. “You have just experienced the fast fall fishing action with warm water. The fish were super active and energetic.”
“November usually means cooler water and less energetic fish. The same areas that are productive in the fall will usually produce fish in November too but will require a little more patience. Slow your drift down or sit on spots just a little longer.”
“Also, downsize your bait,” concluded Jonathan. “Especially if you are marking fish with no bites. Sometimes just baiting with the gut pocket of a skipjack will entice inactive fish to bite.”
