Rob Parsons knows what it’s like to be in the winner’s circle at tournaments. He and his partner, Carl Morris Jr., travel the county chasing whiskered critters. In March 2019 the pair fished the Bass Pro Shops Cabela’s King Kat tournament out of Decatur, AL.
When they came to the scales, they broke the King Kat record for biggest fish ever weighed at a King Kat event. The huge 114.96-pound Wheeler Lake beast marked a new personal best for Parsons.
He credited having a good partner and a good prefishing strategy with his success. He reported that they had scouted out “plenty” of likely fishing holes in the days before the tournament.
“You have to get up early and stay out late,” advised Parsons. “If you think you found what you are looking for, keep looking. You can never have too many spots to fish!”
