Warm Water Tips with John E. Orr, Cat River Anchors
August fishing is characterized by warm water. This is a time when I like to encourage people to try different techniques to see which works best. Whether it is anchoring, bumping the river, or dragging bait, give different methods a try because each technique can be very successful on a given day.
I have been bumping bait the last few days and have caught some great fish. Speed is the key. Personally, I try not to focus on a set speed but focus more on a speed where I can keep control of the rig that I’m using. Once you find that speed, stick with it and it will work great! I’m still learning but man I am hooked.
Anchor fishing will work in August too. Just remember, for anchoring effectively allow at least 3x the water depth for every foot of water. So if you are in 20 feet of water, use at least 60 feet of rope. I have also heard that if you have a Cat River Anchor in your boat it increases your odds of catching fish! LOL.
