One year ago, I wrote, “There has never been a catfish conference, so what is it?” Well, that question was answered in 2016 when the first Catfish Conference was an overwhelming success. The venue at Jeff Jones Marine was filled with inquisitive catfish anglers, knowledgeable vendors and some of the best in the business giving catfish seminars.
Visitors came from 21 states just to see what the hullabaloo was all about. It was evident by the end of the highly successful event that a bigger venue would be needed in 2017.
The organizers choice was Louisville, KY. Catfish Conference 2017 will be held at the Crowne Plaza (Louisville Airport) Conference Center in Louisville, KY on February 25 and 26, 2017. The new venue is loaded with amenities that offer comfort, convenience and accessibility for the visiting catfish community. There will be over 15,000 square feet of exposition space and multiple conference rooms to accommodate the various elements of the catfish get-together.
Like last year, the event will be structured to treat visitors to a total catfish experience. Seminars will reveal fishing secrets from some of the best catfish anglers in the country; vendors will showcase a large array of catfish products; and brand name catfish boats will be available for angers to inspect.
Monster Rod Holders, Jeff Jones Motors and Marine, and the folks at Business House are combining their efforts to make this year’s Catfish Conference bigger and better. Just like last year, all three hosts want everyone to know the event is for anyone and everyone in the catfish industry.
Catfish angers of all persuasions will meet in Louisville to learn, teach, listen, philosophize and maybe even preach about the Rodney Dangerfield like critter called catfish. Mainly the conference will be about sharing information and gaining respect for one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.
In that spirit of sharing catfish information, live seminars will be given by five well-known and knowledgeable catfish personalities. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn catfishing tips and techniques from the likes of Jason Bridges, a full time licensed fishing guide on Lake Wheeler Alabama; Phil King, a pioneer in drifting methods; Tim “Doc” Lange, electronics expert; Joe Ludtke, successful tournament angler; and an icon in the Catfish Industry, James “Big Cat” Patterson. Where else could you go to find that kind of talent in one location?
The city of Louisville will welcome catfish enthusiasts with open arms. In addition to the Catfish Conference, folks can take in other Louisville venues like the Kentucky Derby Museum/Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger, Urban Bourbon Trail, Muhammad Ali Center and many more.
