Hooked on Christmas: Celebrating Faith, Family and Fishing

Christmas is almost here. It is one of the best times of the year to celebrate or rekindle relationships and passions with family and friends. These are the foundations of a healthy society. Having an extended family is important as well.

An extended family can include clubs, groups, affiliations and the sharing within them. Specifically, if you have the passion for catfishing, surrounding yourself with folks who share your zeal and the joy it brings you and them is a blessing.

What I find rewarding is the fun while out fishing with all of those previously mentioned. This is especially rewarding when lots of laughter and stress-relieving fish catches abound. A personal best is like winning the lottery or a trophy of sorts. It’s an achievement of a contest between the fish and yourself.

Growing up, 90 percent of the fish I caught were catfish of many types. While most of the catches were relatively small, being with my grandmother and brother gave me memories of the “good times” and sharing those experiences with them. Every Christmas reminds me of all those memories.

We need more good memories like these, especially memories of sharing and giving. God gave us Christmas, I believe, not only to honor him but also to honor all those around us with love, compassion and the spirits within us. When we come together at this time, there are always discussions of the times we remember fishing and the catches that get bigger every year.

In honor of our Lord and Savior and all he has blessed us with, may each of you have a very merry Christmas! We at CatfishNOW are honored to be part of this wonderful activity and all who participate in it.

Join and have fun!

God Bless,
