Catfish Connections: Catfish Without Borders
Have you ever gotten to explore catfishing internationally? Maybe you have not actually gotten to fish for the numerous catfish species in the world, but maybe you have seen them caught on TV shows or the internet. Shows like “River Monster” really spike my interest to partake in such adventures. In this month’s edition, we thought it would be so cool to provide some of these experiences, adventures and techniques.
We Americans sometimes get tunnel vision that everything catfish is only in our country. This is so far from the truth. Literally every part of the world has various types of catfish, including saltwater versions. All have their unique habitats, feeding habits and grow to large sizes in some of these locations.
Catching record-breaking fish in many of the remote areas of the world is still a possibility. Getting there can be challenging. Major rivers in the tropics and, in some cases, even urban areas, can and will hold monster catfish of different species.
The right gear and baits are essential. Heavy-duty rods and reels, high-test lines, time-tested circle hooks and the right bait all play a major role to success.
Use local guides or area experts to point you to the right locations, tackle and bait. Rivers like the Amazon are so big, one must know where to go and be safe doing it.
Happy reading with a few of the tidbits in this edition both on the website and in our social media.
Share some of your experiences catching catfish in other world locations. We all want to see them!

Don’t forget to take a kid fishing!!
God Bless,
Dan Dannenmueller, Publisher
