Tournament jerseys with style and flair are part and parcel of the merchandise available from Valley Fashions. I was surprised at all the comments I got when I first wore my CatfishNOW Jersey. It was not only comfortable, it was stylish. But it was the catfish imprint that drew all the attention (see photo).

Epilogue: In Service to the Community
Valley Fashions is owned and operated by Dan and Eileen Coates. They are fishermen themselves and understand the needs of the fishing community. In 2017 they created a project known as Catfish Buy the Pound with the goal of raising $100,000 for the ALS Society of Manitoba. The money was targeted for research, client services, and to help raise awareness for the deadly Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Their goal was to catch, weigh, and release 10,000 pounds of catfish during the 2017 fishing season. Their target was the Red River. Pledges from individuals turned their “catfish poundage” into valuable support for the ALS Society of Manitoba.
They have now turned their attention to Wounded Warriors Canada to raise funds to help make their life-changing programs possible. Their goal is to catch over 4,000 pounds of channel catfish by the end of 2019!
Wounded Warriors Canada’s mission is to honor and support Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, First Responders and their families.
“We’re enthusiastic catfish anglers,” said Dan. “And the channel cat fishery in the Red River is one of the hidden gems of North America. We feel privileged to use our passion for fishing toward a great cause like Wounded Warriors Canada.”
