Catfish Gear #54

One for the ladies and one for the guys. Let’s face it, the B’n’M Lady Elite is the prettiest. (Bryan Alday Photo)

Ladies Get the Job Done Right with the B’n’M Lady Elite

When lady anglers have a rod that was specially created just for them they feel a larger ownership in the outdoor adventure.

B’n’M knows rods. They should since they have been building them for more than 70 years. After years of experience with crappie fishing anglers, they recognized the need for good affordable rods for catfish anglers too.

The design staff stays current with what anglers want by communicating with a carefully developed pro-staff. The Pro-staffers advise the company on what they need in a great catfish rod and B’n’M builds the rods to help everyday catfishermen catch more fish. Recently they came out with yet another model. A catfish rod for lady anglers.

SilverCat Lady Elite

Given the success and popularity of the Silver Cat Elite series, and a growing number of women catfish anglers, B’n’M introduced the Lady Elite to give women anglers a rod of their own. This stylish and beautiful rod is quickly becoming a hit on rivers and lakes across the country with the lady anglers it was created for.

The B’n’M Lady Elite is a sequel to the Silver Cat Elite that is so popular with catfish anglers. Made especially for the ladies, the Lady Elite is a one-piece, 7.5-foot catfish rod. Constructed on a pink blank with medium-heavy power, the colorful rod is adorned with a purple aluminum reel seat and stainless-steel guides with purple wrappings. It comes complete with an X-grip EVA handle finished in a pink-purple-white digi-camo pattern.

One new lady angler using the B’n’M SilverCat Lady Elite is Heather Highnote. Her husband Marty Highnote is co-tournament director for the M&J Catfish Wars tournament trail and B’n’M pro staff angler. When Heather learned from him that B’n’M was coming out with a ladies rod she wanted one.

“Marty told me that they were coming out with a pink rod for the ladies,” recalled Heather. “I told him that I wanted one so I could start fishing with him and my son Chandler.”

Marty knew that she liked stuff that is pink because she is a Breast Cancer Survivor. Soon, Heather was the proud owner of two new Lady Elites to use when she fished with her husband and son. They were quickly paired with a pink and a purple reel to match the rod’s color scheme.

“I think it is a gorgeous rod,” exclaimed Heather. “I like the look and the action of the rod and they will put catfish in the boat. I have caught a couple of small fish on them and the action and backbone are real nice. To me B’n’M has the best-looking lady’s rod out there. I like mine so much I keep them in my bedroom where Marty and Chandler can’t carry my rods fishing with them.”

Paula Ward Rounsaville is another fan of the Lady Elite rod. Her introduction to the rod came when she booked a trip with B’n’M pro-staffer and guide David Magness as a Christmas gift for her husband, Quinn. David had a Lady Elite rigged and ready for his lady guest.

“She said she booked the trip for Quinn,” joked Magness. “But she really booked it for herself, as Quinn and I told her.”

“David let me be the first to use the Lady Elite,” recalled Paula. “I really loved using it and feeling the fight with the catfish. It was sturdy enough to pull in big cats but still flexible enough to feel a fight from smaller cats.”

“She loved the rod,” explained David. “It made her feel like a real part of the game having a rod just for her. Afterward, she wanted a Lady Elite for herself and now she has one.”

At the end of the day, Paula had her own Lady Elite. Capt. Magness presented her with the rod she had used to fish with that day. Each time she sees her Lady Elite she will be reminded of the memories she and her husband made that day on the Mississippi River.
