Catfish Livewells — The SeaArk Version
SeaArk Boats create large livewells for a reason. More and more anglers are catching more and more trophy cats.
SeaArk Boats are highly desired in various user circles, especially the catfish community. They are known to be well-made boats with a reputation for lasting a long time. As longtime SeaArk owners know, they live up to their slogan well— “Boats Built for a Lifetime.”
They have changed a lot over the years with the addition of many things that catfish anglers like. Top among them is the roomy livewells that were made specifically for catfish. Large capacity livewells did not come by accident. The story dates back to 2003 when SeaArk came out with the RiverCat—A boat built specifically for catfishermen.
“I remember when we created the RiverCat,” recalled SeaArk President Steve Henderson. “It was back in 2003 and it had a 40-gallon livewell.”
“The name, RiverCat, the wide bottom, and the livewell is how we got our start in being the number one boat in catfishing,” continued Henderson. “From there on we just listened to our customers.”
Customers wanted bigger and they got it from SeaArk. The tournament scene was growing and more and more anglers were developing the skills needed to catch trophy catfish. Tournament anglers wanted bigger livewells and the ability to keep the contaminated water flushed out as quickly as possible. Clean water is the key to good fish health and live releases following the tournaments. Today, CPR is the mantra of tournament fishing and large livewells like those in SeaArk Boats are a necessity.
“We jumped in just as tournaments began to grow,” concluded Henderson. “And we grew with that market. We were blessed to be at the right place at the right time. We still have some ideas to improve livewell design in the future.”
SeaArk’s Catfish Series includes Big Daddy (60-gallon aerated livewell), Dynasty (100-gallon livewell in the rear deck), EasyCat (80-gallon livewell in the rear deck, and 25-gallon bow livewell with rounded corners), ProCat 200 (80-gallon livewell in the rear deck and 25-gallon bow livewell with rounded corners), ProCat 240 (80-gallon livewell in the rear deck and 25-gallon bow livewell with rounded corners), ProGuide (80-gallon livewell in the rear deck, 25-gallon bow livewell with rounded corners), Protégé (80-gallon livewell in the rear deck), RiverCat 180 (40 gallon divided aerated livewell), and the VCat 200 (60-gallon aerated livewell). Each of these boats are designed with the catfish angler in mind.
