Catfish Q&A with James “Big Cat” Patterson

Catfish Q&A with James “Big Cat” Patterson

MRM ANGLER ROUNDUP – 2017

The 2017 Mississippi River Monsters tournament in Memphis will feature prominent anglers and tournament teams in a series of catfish seminars. The Friday event promises to provide more catfishing information in one afternoon than an individual could accumulate in years of fishing on their own.

Patterson has an in-depth understanding of the rivers he fishes.

One of the distinguishing elements of tournament catfishing anglers, and catfish anglers in general for that matter, is their willingness to share what they know with others. The Angler Roundup seminar series is being presented to do just that in a short period of time. If you have questions about catfishing you need to invest the time to be there on September 15, 2017 inside the pyramid at Memphis, TN.

The 12:45 time slot is assigned to James “Big Cat” Patterson. He is an icon in the catfishing community. Described by some as one of the grandfathers of catfishing, he has always willingly shared his knowledge of fishing with others. He is widely recognized for his seemingly never-ending knowledge of catfishing and an in-depth understanding of the rivers he fishes. His success as a tournament fisher and guide speaks for itself.

Patterson plans to share his catfishing knowledge in a Q&A session, “I feel that answering direct questions from anglers is the best way,” offered Patterson. “That way I won’t be talking about things that people already know.”

“Most people there are experienced catfishermen,” said Patterson. “With a question and answer format, I can give my answers to subjects in question. I think that makes sense for everybody.”

Do you have catfish questions? Write them down and bring them to Patterson’s no holds barred session in the Pyramid on Friday afternoon.

Other well-known anglers that will be presenting at Angler Roundup include Glenn Flowers from Florida, Natalie Wilbanks and David Shipman from Mississippi, Jeff Dodd from Tennessee, and Jason and Daryl Masingale, from Arkansas.

Regardless of where you fish, there will be plenty of tips and techniques that you can use in your own backyard. The Angler Roundup begins at noon on Friday and runs through about 3:45 pm.

For anglers fishing the tournament, the next event following the seminars is registration at 4:00 pm and the Captain’s Meeting at 6:30 pm. Get the lowdown on tournament day from George Young Jr., Misty Wells and Bill Dance.
