CATFISH STOCKING FOR FREE YOUTH FISHING EVENT

LOS ANGELES – MacArthur Park, a City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks facility, located at 2230 W 160th, Los Angeles, CA 90057, will host a youth fishing derby on Saturday, May 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm.catfish, kids, derby

This activity is designed to give boys and girls, 15 and younger, who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood. The lake will be stocked with catfish for the derby. Everything for the kids is free.

Event day onsite registration will begin at 8:00 am, the fishing session will go from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing.

The Department of Recreation and Parks is presenting the event together with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and the California Dept of Fish & Wildlife, “Fishing In The City” Program. Kids will be provided with loner rods & reels, tackle, and bait for those who don’t have their own, as well as assistance for those who need it.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department will also be represented. The Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation puts on six of these events every year throughout Southern California.  For more information about the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation, you can visit their website at www.danskids.org.

Anglers age 16 or older can fish after 1 PM, but they must have a California State Fishing License.catfish, derby, kids, California

The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and other local partners expected to participate.
