Reelin’ for Leftie Catfish Tournament will raise funds for Children’s Mercy Hospital in KC
#CATFISHCLASS
Please share this charity tournament announcement. The Johnson family from Wichita, KS are stepping up again to present the Reelin’ for Leftie catfish tournament on Eldorado State Lake on May 14, 2022.
The event is hosted by Tim Berger and the All American Catfish Tournaments with all proceeds going to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City where “Leftie” (Luke Johnson) has received care. Last year a check for $3,000 was presented.
In 2016 “Leftie” suffered a brachial plexus injury at birth. This injury results in paralysis of a nerve. For Luke, the injury affected his left arm. Since day one, Dustin and Naura have worked to rehab Luke, who they affectionately call “Leftie” because of the problem in his left arm.
“At 5 months old, Luke underwent a nerve graft at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City,” explained Naura Johnson, Leftie’s mom. “The procedure was aimed at helping to restore function. With daily exercises, multiple procedures, occupational therapy, ESTIM sessions, kinesio taping, and hard work, Leftie improves daily!”
“Luke and his dad share a passion for fishing together,” continued Naura. “Fishing and the great outdoors have always been one of our top priorities. These annual events enable us to raise money for a cause so dear to our fisherman Luke!”
The boats will launch at 7:00 am at the Blue Stem Ramp 2. Teams must be back to the weigh-in at 4:00 pm.
