King Kat Tournament Trail Guidelines During COVID-19 Pandemic
After being shut down by the coronavirus, the Bass Pro Shops Cabela’s King Kat Trail got underway again on May 17th at Clinton, MO on Truman Lake. They operated under the following guidelines and plan to do so for the remainder of the season.
Social distancing must be observed at all times during weigh-in and registration functions. The staff is required to wear face masks and gloves, and the participants are urged to do so as well.
At boat ramps: Practice social distancing and avoid large gatherings or crowded areas. Take the extra time to space out while waiting to load and unload boats. Stay off the ramp if others are loading or unloading to avoid crowding. Use the courtesy dock only after it is cleared of others. Avoid touching areas such as handrails on the dock unless absolutely necessary.
Registration by phone, mail, or online is recommended. Any late registrations will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the printed seminar site, but the seminar will not be held. One team at a time may enter the registration area and pick up their voucher, a copy of the COVID-19 Guidelines, and a copy of the rules and regs for the event.
The weigh-in line will be clearly marked for 6-foot distancing. A team may enter the weigh-in line when a marked spot becomes available and until then should remain with their vehicle and/or boat. Boats with heavy weights of fish may drive through the weigh-in area. When driving to the scales, one angler will stay in the vehicle and one angler will assist staff with placing fish on the scales and then helping them release the fish to the proper area as their partner drives away from the weigh-in area.
