For Immediate Release: October 12, 2021——- It took less than 10 minutes to sell out a new catfish tournament event with a $2,500 entry fee per team. Yes, a catfish tournament! After just a few short weeks of announcing a new tournament event was on the horizon, one unlike anything that catfishing had experienced before, on Monday evening, October 11, 2021, the new Mega Bucs Pro Series Tournament opened registration. As quick as it opened, it sold out. 50 2 person teams from all over the country quickly entered with the hope of getting their share of well over 6 figures in cash and prizes.
George Young, Jr., a highly regarded catfish angler, the director of the popular Mississippi River Monsters catfish tournament held annually at the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid in Memphis, TN, and one of the co-founders of the American Catfishing Association came up with the idea to create an event like nothing before. Teaming up with the other American Catfishing Association founders Glen Thomas and Steven Miller, along with SeaArk Boats and the City of Helena, Arkansas, the team worked diligently to create the new Mega Bucs event.
One of catfishing’s biggest supporters, and an avid catfish angler himself, the legendary Bill Dance stated, “The Mega Bucs Pro Series & the American Catfishing Association made history last night when they unveiled this ground breaking event to be held on one of the best stretches of the mighty Mississippi that boarders Phillips County, Arkansas.”

Mega Bucs will be a single day event with the possibility of a second day fish-off of the 4 top finishing teams. Filming of the event is being planned to produce a 1 hour nationally televised special that is being designed to show off this ever growing popular fishing segment. Taking place in Helena, Arkansas October 2022, the Mega Bucs event is sure to become a popular model for future catfish tournaments.
